AJO was brought into this stunning beachfront home on Captiva Island after the base architectural plans were complete, tasked with transforming an ordinary framework into an extraordinary, cohesive design that reflects our client’s vision of Bali-inspired modern living.

While the original layout presented a standard palette, AJO reimagined every interior and exterior detail, reshaping spaces and infusing them with texture, warmth, and a sense of calm.

Our team provided comprehensive interior architecture and design services for the entire property, inside and out, including finishes, furniture, art, accessories, window treatments, tile, bedding, and even exterior elements such as outdoor pots and sculptures.

Inside, the home features three bedrooms, four and a half baths, dual offices, an art gallery, a media room, and a steam room, with seamless transitions into the outdoor living areas. Custom built-ins throughout the home, each designed by AJO, anchor the interiors with both function and artistry. In the media room, a wood-stained ceiling brings warmth and intimacy; in the kitchen, a textured ceiling covering adds subtle depth.

A hallmark of the design is the custom floating staircase, which blurs the boundary between indoors and out. At its base, natural rocks continue from the outdoor landscape into the interior, creating a breathtaking connection to nature.

Outdoors, expansive balconies frame views of the Gulf of Mexico, while a pool, cabana with swings, outdoor kitchen and dining area, fireplace lounge, and a zen-inspired sculpture garden complete the resort-like experience.

From the reconfigured floor plan to the smallest curated accessory, AJO transformed this residence into a tranquil, immersive retreat that embodies modern island luxury.

I would have never thought of uplighting.  She [Cristina] did an amazing job creating our ceilings and uplighting them as they had coves or trays. It was well worth our money and time to work with the architects at Architecture, Joyce Owens. -Homeowner
